Couldn’t resist capping Game Of Thrones season 4 in 4K/UHD (3840×2160) when I saw it, especially when a friend asked me if I was going to 🙂 It’s my understanding that only seasons 4-8 are true 4K/UHD, and seasons 1-3 have been upscaled from 1080p to 4K/UHD. I’d like to cap those early seasons in 4K/UHD because they’re my favorites, but I’ll have to check what they look like first.
The screencaps look a little darker from the Bluray/DVD ones because the 4K/UHD versions are HDR format (it appears washed out if your hardware/software doesn’t support it) which screencapping and video programs can’t quite handle yet (it’s such a new technology, not widely spread yet) so this is the best I could do with ffmpeg.
This is something of a temporary gallery – I don’t know how long the screencaps will be up. Depends on my mood! But for now, I want to share these 😀 So I recommend you download them ASAP if you want them 😎
I also don’t know how many episodes I’ll cap – it takes about 6-8 hours for ffmpeg to run through one episode and produce the screencaps because it needs to convert the video from HDR to SDR to get the colors/brightness more or less right and that’s slow on my computer.
