The main hard drive on the server http://www.bloodvelvet.net and http://www.jewel-staite.org are located on is failing and needs to be replaced. Gertie is working on it – if the sites go offline, don’t worry – there are backups and they’ll be back ASAP!
I went through all my sites today, checking that all scripts, plugins etc. were up-to-date and also did some general cleaning. I’m also taking into a use a further refined alert system that makes it possible for me to post hiatus, server problem etc. notices both on my main domain Crystal Fires that must have everything and only to the site in question (when it comes back online) unlike to all my sites like before – it’s also possible post it on the main domain as well as to either all sites if all are affected or to say to 3, if only 3 sites are affected. So less off topic news to each site with this upgrade.
This post works as a test of the refined system: if everything works as it should, this post should show up on all of my sites.
The server hosting http://www.viva-bianca.net is currently down – my host is aware of the problem and is working on it. FIXED!
I’m going in for my third colonoscopy on Wednesday. Which means that tomorrow, I get to do the fun fun fun empty-and-clean-out-my-bowels-by-drinking-litres-of-a-foul-tasting-medical-concoction-and-have-a-diarrhea-for-the-entire-bloody-evening-and-allthroughhopefully-only-half-the-night- thing that is required so that they can see what’s what. That fun fun fun thing, non-eating (can’t eat until the colonoscopy is done) and the colonoscopy totally wear me out, totally wear me out so that I don’t like to keep my computer on as much as I normally do once I start the fun fun fun thing, and I won’t see the error etc. notices as speedily as I normally do if there are anyso I won’t be updating my sites for the next couple of days, maybe this week at all.
If there’s a server problem or disaster or something, I’ll get to it as fast as I can but propably not until Thursday afternoon/evening my time (GTM+2).
All the media sites are currently showing an error. This is because the server they are are hosted on needs to be upgraded: both php and mysql, and is currently running checks. It was using php 5.2.x which stops being supported in 2013 which was the main reason for the upgrade. The phpmotion installations that had to be used before on the server were for php 5.2.x and is now uncompatible with the new 5.3.x so a number of files needs to be changed – that’s no problem, phpmotion’s developers makes it for php 5.3.x also.
Currently, I’m waiting for the checks to end, and to hear whether Gertie is able to batch upgrade all phpmotions in the server or whether the webmasters will have to do it themselves. If I have to do it myself, I think I’ve found a list of files I need to upload and replace, but I won’t need for sure until I try it.
Rest assured, the media sites will be back online and operational as soon as humanly possible. I’ll keep you posted if there’s any major developments.
EDIT: Gertie downgraded back to php 5.2.x for now, and all the sites are working normally.
Okay, all media sites should be now working normally for everyone – Gertie finished fixing and moving things around on Friday, and because it involved moving sites from one server to another, she also reloaded all media site server DNS which after propagating for 24-48 hours hopefully should now have resolved all the remaining access issues!
I haven’t personally had any problems accessing any my media sites since Saturday, but if you do, try deleting your web browser’s cache. If that doesn’t help, let me know which site it is and I’ll see it what I can do about it!
