Slow Server

I’m sorry for the slowness of several of my sites recently. It’s due to the server being busy because of so many busy sites. My host will be adding two new servers, and will move many sites from the current server to the new ones to ease server load. This should make all sites faster again. They’ll be working on this the next several days, including the weekend.

I don’t know yet whether my sites will be moved or not. I’ll let you know once I know. Some sites, such the Xena and The Vampire Diaries sites, the gallery is so slow when I try to add pics that it’s next to impossible to do it until it’s working better. So no updates at least on those particularly slow galleries until the server load eases.

Acrylic Pouring

I’ve started to do some non-digital art in addition to Photoshop stuff since May. Mostly prompted by the fact the my migraine’s been bad enough that I can’t be on the computer as much as I’d like, but I still wanted to do some art, preferably something colorful.

I’ve always loved colors and lovely abstract paintings, and for some reason I’d been watching a lot of videos on Youtube about acrylic painting. I’m not sure how that happened – I’ve never really been before interested in painting, or knitting or anything I’d do with my hands except baking. I think it’s because I’d been spending a lot of time on Etsy, and been seeing all these wonderful craft items people have made and are selling, such as paintings, handmade journals, handmade dyed paper and so on.

So I decided to try some acrylic painting myself! It doesn’t smell and looked like a lot of fun. I quickly discovered I love acrylic pour painting! It’s much fun, but also quiet and meditative. I made a post about it over at Crystal Fires back in May, with photos of my first attempts.

During the summer I made around 10 acrylic pour paintings, here are photos of some of the best ones: Continue reading Acrylic Pouring

Health Update

I getting up on 300 days of sickeness allowance at the end of this month (300 days is the maximum; after that one has be fit for work for at least a year to re-qualify again for the same illness) because of my migraines.

So now I’m applying for disability pension/temporary disability pension now. I never thought until a couple of years ago I’d ever have to do that this young (I’m 43). Disability pension has become notoriously hard to be approved for the last decade or so, propably tens of thousands of people are kept on unemployment despite them, their doctors and the unemployment agency knowing full well that they are not able to work. But insurance doctors think otherwise, without ever seeing the patient. So I’m not at all sure I’ll be approved. If not, I’ll join the ranks of people on wrong damn benefit.

It’ll take them about 2-3 months to process my application, keeping fingers crossed!

I’m not even sure I truly want to be on disability pension but that’s really the right place for me untill and unless the migraine gets a lot better (and doesn’t get worse again when trying out working or whatever). And it would be mentally much better than being on unemployment and feel like I’m not hanging in a loose noose. As long as I’m on unemployment but not able to work in reality, it’ll be stressing because you never know what the TE-toimisto will think up like unpaid work. And things have been going really badly for the unemployed (and just generally the poor) the last several years while the right wing politicians are in power, and they have still more bad changes in the pipeline for the unemployed.

But yeah, I never thought I’d be here when I was younger!
