Health Update

So I’ve now had all the tests ordered by the infections specialist; nothing was found and no reason for the chronic diarrhea. Removing the two bad teeth has had no effect at all on the CRP levels which continue to be slightly elevated. They decided to refer me to Gastro in case they think they should check me. I was checked by the Gastro but that was about 5 months before the chronic diarrhea started, and was because of the bad hemoglobin.

So now I’m in line for the MRI of the small intestine in October. Yay fun. I guess I should hope they’ll find someting that explains the chronic diarrhea and that can be treated, no matter what it is. I’m pretty sure I’ve this particular thing done already once, but I can’t remember whether it was for the hemoglobin or the diarrhea. But if they want to keep examining me, let them… it’d be nice to have a real explanation.

Huh. I just noticed that categories on the right don’t work. I’ll look into that. EDIT: and now they have disappeared???

Health Update + Random Thoughts: Firefly

The 2nd and last last tooth that needed to be removed was taken out this morning. The time reserved for the procedure was one hour, and I was mentally all prepared for just as problematic and painful removal and recovery as the other tooth. And it was… easy! D:

I was in and out in only 15 minutes; the procedure itself took maybe 5 minutes. This time there wasn’t need for much local anaesthetic like last time, and I didn’t even feel it going in. And then afterward, I didn’t really notice it at all unlike last time when half of my face was numb for 5-6 hours after the procedure.

Another delightful surprise – so far there’s been no pain whatsoever 😀 Keeping fingers crossed the recovery goes well and that there’s no infection this time again.

On the migraine front, head’s been a little bit worse the last four weeks or so. Due to heat waves, Mom’s breast cancer and me being nervous about today’s tooth removal operation. Still, the head’s didn’t get anything near like it was just say, eight months ago. I’m cautiously optimistic that maybe meds are effective enough so that I won’t respond to stress anymore by the migraine going bad again. Which happened three times when there was stress comparable to the above issues in my life. Now it’s been more of a pressure in my head than an out right attack, which has been great because it means I’m notlosing my ability to function. I do not miss those night and days when just sitting and breathing made my head feel like it was going to explode. So, a definite step forward on this front too 😀

On happier news, I rewatched all of Firefly the last couple of weeks and to my utter surprise… I loved it. A Lot. Which I didn’t the first time around. I think it was because, I had just finished watching Buffy, and it being a Joss Whedon production, I think I expected (read: wanted) something totally different than what I got. Propably a cross between Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Star Trek or something. And then there was of course the issue of Nathan Fillion – I hated him in Buffy, and I hated him in a few other things that I saw him in before Buffy, and I was really sour that he was in my scifi and everytime he was on screen I was irritated. Which, considering, was pretty much all the time.

So now when I rewatched, I was all prepared to hate his guts again… and I didn’t. I actually liked him, a lot, as Mal Reynolds. And I really liked all the other characters too 😀 I was devasted we didn’t get more of Firefly. It had everything I look for in a tv series these days. Things like continuity and character development and pacing that let me get to know all the characters and the world instead of rushing by them to special effects and action scenes. TPTB were idiots when they canceled this series.

And now I wonder, have I totally misjudged Nathan Fillion?! I hated him so much after Buffy/Firefly, that if a series or a movie has him in it, I have not watched it. Is Firefly and Mal Reynolds just a fluke, or is he actually not irritating and it’s just the characters? I’d lumped him with the other actors and actress that I didn’t like no matter what role they played, but I disliked him more intensily than I did any other. But maybe it’s more like… I’ve had a few actors that a role they played really clicked with me as in I got nuts about that character, but all the other roles before and after were just… meh. Leonard Nimoy and his Spock are an example of that, and Kevin Conroy and his Captain Rusty Wallace another. So maybe this Nathan Fillion thing is a variation of that?

Tooth Ache

And the tooth ache continues – it’s been on since Tuesday. At first I didn’t think it was notable but it’s now getting on my nerves. It’s not really bad ache – just bad enough that I’m aware of it all the damn time. And it could be my imagination, but I think it’s a tiny shade worse today than yesterday 🙁

It’s just that I don’t know if it’s normal for it to still ache! If I knew everything was alright and it’s normal and will end sooner rather than later like in a day/three days/a week or something like that, I feel I could stand it. But I’m worried that there’s still infection left there even though I don’t have any of the symptons – but I didn’t have first time either!

I also think maybe I’m blowing the tooth ache out of all proportion because I’ve begun to realize just in these last few weeks or so, that I don’t deal that well with pain anymore, because of the 2,5 years lasting chronic migraine that finally is gone (knock on wood!) and now that I’ve been pain free for like 4 months apart from the migraine attacks (lot less intense than they used to be) I don’t have patience to deal with new continuing pain and just want it to not hurt and be comfortable. And also, for all I know this could be bad pain but because the chronic migraine and the migraine attacks used to be a million times worse than this pain, I don’t feel like it’s bad or even really worth to complain about… because compared to those? This is nothing.

So I don’t what what I’m feeling is reasonable pain and to expected after tooth removal and infection, or whether I should do something about it again.

And why does it have to be the end of the week again – I either have to get in for a check up tomorrow, or wonder through the weekend. I almost wish it’d get really really kill me now horrible because then at least I’d know it’s not healing as it should!

The other tooth removal is scheduled for July 5th, and at the rate this is going, this one is still going to hurt and drive me crazy at that time!

Againt At The Dentist’s

The spot where the tooth was removed last Monday started to ache Wednesday/Thursday but I thought it was because I was starting to eat solids again and it always started after eating. But Saturday and yesterday it ached all the damn time, and then last night, it started to throb when I did some light cleaning in the bathroom because some men were coming in today to do some installations there. So I called it in today, got an appointment to check it out and good thing I did – there was an infection, the nerve endings were exposed and no sign whatsover of the blood clot that should’ve stopped that from happening D:

It was the same Dentist today who had removed it, and this time I think he directly gave me a lot more of the local anaesthesia because he only gave me one shot and still it’s just as numb as last Monday. He cleaned it out and put in some pain killer thingy that looked like foam rubber and tasted awful. He said that if the ache returns, I need to contact them again.

So now left side of my face is numb again, talking is so-and-so, eating/drinking etc. is forbidden for another hour or so – but the ache is blissfully gone! 😀

Tooth Removal

I had the dentist’s appointment today, and he didn’t even try to convince me to have root canal instead of removing the tooth 😀 So the first of the two teeth is out now 🙂 Took 55 minutes (which is interesting, because a friend of mine had her wisdom teeth removed, 2 of them at one time, and she said it took like 10 minutes.

The dentist said my bone is so strong, that it doesn’t want to give up the teeth. The teeth broke, and he spent like half an hour removing the bit that was left.

At first it was a little uncomfortable, but he gave me so much local anaesthetic that once it really took hold, I didn’t feel much of anything but tugging/pushing/pulling and heard the drilling. It’s still on, but I wonder how much it’ll hurt after the anaesthetic ends.

The second teet will be removed in July, and this time is a 6o minute appoitment 🙂

I had all my wisdom tooth removed over 20 years ago when I was a teenager; I can’t remember if it was as hard work then as it was now. I had 4 of them; they took two on  one time and the other two on another.
